When the days get shorter, Reichenau organic sweet potatoes bring color to the plate. Harvesting is currently in full swing on over 120 hectares of open land, on the island of Reichenau, in Hegau, and on the Bodanrück. Despite changeable weather, Reichenau-Gemüse eG is once again expecting a very good harvest of excellent quality. "The sweet potato has become firmly established here. It stands for innovation, diversity, and regional value creation – and has long been more than just a trend product," emphasizes Johannes Bliestle, managing director of Reichenau-Gemüse eG.

The originally tropical crop requires a great deal of experience, know-how, and finesse. Organic producer Benjamin Wagner, who has specialized in growing organic sweet potatoes for over ten years, focuses on sustainable methods, careful soil management, and modern storage technology. As a result, local Reichenau organic sweet potatoes can now be offered all year round – an important step for the regional supply of high-quality organic vegetables.

Ingo Bernhard and Christian Müller represented Reichenau-Gemüse eG at this year's BioFach in Nuremberg and took the opportunity to showcase the organic sweet potatoes.
Organic out of conviction – quality, sustainability, and taste
The producers at Reichenau-Gemüse eG work according to strict ecological guidelines. The result is natural, aromatic tubers that represent resource-saving and responsible vegetable cultivation by Lake Constance.
Reichenau organic sweet potatoes are not only impressive for their taste but also for their high nutritional value. They are rich in vitamins A, C, and B6, as well as important minerals such as potassium, manganese, and iron. Their low glycemic index ensures a steady supply of energy, while fiber and natural antioxidants aid digestion and protect the body from free radicals. This makes them the perfect ingredient for a balanced diet – from classic oven dishes to creative bowls.
Reichenau-Gemüse eG also pays attention to sustainability when it comes to packaging: The consumer-friendly 650-gram package is made of 95 percent paper and can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner via the waste paper collection. With a harvest of over 4,000 tons, Reichenau-Gemüse eG remains the leading supplier of domestic organic sweet potatoes. The tuber shows that regionality, quality, and innovation can go hand in hand.

Looking beyond the horizon
This year, Reichenau-Gemüse eG is exhibiting for the first time at the Scandinavian trade fair Nordic Organic Food Fair in Malmö, Sweden, to present Reichenau's organic sweet potatoes to an international audience. The trade fair appearance underscores that sweet potatoes from the island of Reichenau have long since found their place in the European market – and that interest in regional organic vegetables is growing steadily.
