In 2025, pineapple prices in Russia rose by 16%, according to ATOL data reported by the Telegram channel Shot. The sharp increase was driven by higher logistics costs and seasonal demand fluctuations.
Fruit prices recorded the strongest growth in October, with a 7% rise during the month. The average cost of a pineapple was 567 rubles (US$6.20) in October and increased to 607 rubles (US$6.64) in November. In 2024, the average price stood at 523 rubles (US$5.72). Market analysts expect prices to rise by a further 10% before the end of the year.
In Moscow, pineapples currently sell for between 600 and 1,200 rubles (US$6.60–13.10) per kilogram, depending on variety, origin, and transport costs. About 80% of the fruit is imported from Costa Rica.
Analysts also forecast a rise in tangerine prices ahead of the New Year, with an estimated 20% increase. At present, tangerines are sold at an average of 224 rubles (US$2.45) per kilogram, up 3% from 217 rubles (US$2.38) last year. "The closer to the New Year, the more expensive fruits become; the final price increase may exceed 20%," said residents of the Russian Federation.
