Moonlight Companies recalls California peaches over Listeria risk

The recall affects products sold under the Moonlight and Kroger brands, as well as peaches distributed through Food Lion stores across the United States. Food Lion has notified customers that the affected items, sold between September 23 and October 29, 2025, include yellow peaches (PLU 4038) and white flesh peaches (PLU 4401). Customers who purchased these products are advised to disinfect any surfaces that came into contact with the fruit and return them to stores for a refund.

The recalled products were sold nationwide between September 16 and October 29, 2025, as individual peaches with PLU stickers or in multi-packs. Packages or stickers labeled "Washington" and/or "Organic" are not included in the recall.

The affected items include Moonlight Yellow Peaches, Moonlight White Peaches, Moonlight White Peaches ("Peppermint Peach"), and Kroger Yellow Peaches. They were distributed from facility code P1, covering multiple lot codes such as 01PCLC, 03PCAF, 106PCLF, 113PCAF, 129PCLF, 142PCLF, and 150PCLF. The recalled items were sold under UPC numbers 8 10248 03165 6, 8 10248 03163 2, 8 98429 00209 1, and 11110 18174.

According to the company, the recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the packing facility environment. Listeria can cause serious infections, particularly among young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. In healthy individuals, symptoms may include fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Infection can also cause miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women.
