Turkey forecasts sharp decline in citrus and nut production

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey has forecast a decline in national citrus production for 2025. According to the report, production of oranges and lemons is expected to decrease by 15.0% and 34.8%, respectively, compared with the previous year.

In contrast, mandarin production is projected to rise by 7.1%, reflecting a modest increase in volumes for the upcoming season.

Beyond citrus, the Ministry's forecast indicates lower yields for most nut crops. Hazelnut production is expected to decline by 38.5%, walnuts by 38.1%, and pistachios by 61.1% year on year.

Banana production is also projected to fall slightly by 1.6%, while olive production is anticipated to drop by 34.7%. In contrast, melon and watermelon yields are expected to rise, with production up by 17.5% and 8.3%, respectively.

The Ministry's data highlights continued variability across Turkey's fruit and nut sectors, with citrus and nuts facing downward adjustments while melon and watermelon output shows moderate growth.
