Dole Food Company will present its mango program at the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA). The program is entering its second Ecuadorian season with increased volumes compared to last year.
According to Rodrigo Velasquez, Dole's District Sales Manager, the program will supply a range of Ecuadorian varieties, including Ataulfos, Tommy Atkins, Hadens, and later in the season, Kents and Keitts. Organic Tommy Atkins mangos will also be available, providing continuity for the organic segment between the California Keitt and Peruvian Kent seasons.

Ecuador's harvest is shorter than Peru's or Mexico's, with a concentrated window in November. Industry forecasts project Ecuador's 2025 season at 12.2 million boxes, about 17% lower than last year. Brazil's season is estimated at 9.6 million boxes, though recent U.S. tariffs may affect volumes. Mexico ended one of its fastest seasons in recent years at 95.4 million boxes, up 6% year on year. Peru is preparing for a slightly delayed start in December due to later flowering, with shipments expected to continue through April, mainly of the Kent variety.
Ecuador's production is characterised by a sharp increase in shipments followed by a quick decline, creating logistical challenges. Dole has reported managing these dynamics through the use of its own vessels and terminals in San Diego, California, and Wilmington, Delaware, to maintain consistent arrivals.
The Ecuadorian program will transition into Peru's season, ensuring supply into the winter and spring months. Company representatives indicated that Ecuador is expected to become a more relevant origin for U.S. retailers in 2025.
