Export of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia up by 12.2%

From January to September 2025, Armenia exported 121,800 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables — an increase of 12.2% or 13,600 tons compared to the same period last year, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan reported during a government meeting on October 2.

The country operates around 1,500 hectares of greenhouses, including 1,000 hectares in Armavir, 272 hectares in Ararat, and 145 hectares in the Kotayk region. More than 300 hectares are equipped with modern technology, and almost all exported vegetables are greenhouse-grown.

Tomato exports increased by 8% (1,000 tons), pepper by 59% (4,500 tons), and eggplant by 80%. Flower exports also rose by 5.3%, totaling 3.1 million units.

Fruit exports showed notable growth as well: apricots up by 33% (44,000 tons), plums by 32% (8,200 tons), peaches by 86% (11,000 tons), and cherries by 89% (4,200 tons).

Despite the positive export dynamics, starting January 1, 2026, the Armenian government will continue its program to support the development of greenhouse farms but will reduce the subsidy rate by 2%, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced.
