Iran and Brazil boost agri-trade under BRICS cooperation

During the 15th BRICS agriculture ministers' meeting, an official highlighted the coordination between Iran and Brazil to enhance the export of caviar, dried nuts, kiwi, pomegranate, and apples from Iran to Brazil. The BRICS bloc, comprising emerging economies like Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, represents about 50% of the global population and a third of the global economy.

The official noted that BRICS countries engage in approximately $160 billion in agricultural exchanges, with Iran contributing $13 billion. The agricultural trade between Iran and Brazil is valued at $7 billion. In April, Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh attended the BRICS meeting in Brazil to discuss agricultural issues. Iran, having become an official BRICS member in January 2024, aims to strengthen its role within the group and enhance its agricultural sector's standing.
