Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, located in south China, is positioning itself as a pivotal conduit for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), focusing on creating a business-friendly environment conducive to both domestic and international market circulation. This initiative is part of Guangxi's strategy to achieve high-quality development, leveraging its unique geographical and cultural position.
Recently, Lan Tianli, the chairman of the autonomous region, outlined Guangxi's achievements in fostering high-quality development, emphasizing the region's efforts to simplify processes across investment, trade, consumption, capital flows, exchanges, and logistics. Guangxi's commitment to openness is demonstrated through its continuous hosting of the China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit for two decades, highlighting ASEAN's status as Guangxi's top trading partner for 24 years.
The region is also focusing on developing key industrial and agricultural sectors, with notable outputs in metallurgy, automobiles, sugar, and fruit. Guangxi's production of fruits stands at a significant proportion of China's total output, with a substantial share of ASEAN fruits being imported through the region. Efforts are underway to establish the China-ASEAN fruit trading center and transform Guilin into a world-class tourism destination, capitalizing on its natural scenic beauty.
