Ukrainian strawberry prices surge amidst lower temperatures

Analysts from EastFruit have observed that Ukrainian strawberry growers have successfully increased their selling prices this week. Market operators attribute this uptick primarily to the erratic and scant supplies of the fruit, a consequence of deteriorating weather conditions in the primary strawberry-growing regions.

Presently, Ukrainian growers are offering strawberries at a price range of 50-80 UAH/kg ($1.26-2.02/kg), marking an average increase of 37% compared to prices at the end of the previous workweek. The current buzz surrounding strawberries is linked to the notably scarce availability in the market, despite the onset of the open-ground berry season in the country's southern and western areas.

It should be highlighted that, as of now, local garden strawberries are being marketed in Ukraine at prices approximately 48% lower than those recorded during the same period last year. Nonetheless, a majority of the market's key players anticipate a potential decline in prices in the near future. They support their view with the expectation of stabilizing weather conditions, which are likely to boost the supply of strawberries from local estates.
