In Punjab, Information Minister Azma Bokhari reported a decrease in the prices of key vegetables and fruits. According to Bokhari, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes have seen reductions of Rs29, Rs24, and Rs22 respectively, with other vegetables also experiencing price drops of up to Rs20. Fruit prices have similarly declined. Bokhari attributes these reductions to the effective management by district administrations across Punjab.
Efforts to enforce government rate lists have been intensified, with price control magistrates and teams activated province-wide. Daily market inspections by district coordinators, assistant coordinators, and commissioners are part of these measures. Bokhari highlighted the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's commitment to making essential foods more affordable for the public, emphasizing the government's obligation to meet the electorate's expectations.
