Paddie Allen appointed as new air freight director for PML Seafrigo

Paddie Allen has joined PML Seafrigo as Air Freight Director, heading up the company's UK air freight operations. He has spent the last 16 years in the logistics business, after first entering the industry upon the recommendation of his father who had enjoyed an illustrious career in sales with a number of major airlines.

A seasoned logistics specialist with proven expertise in air freight, warehousing and ocean, Allen's foray into logistics began with a seven-year stint at a rival global logistics provider based at Heathrow where he advanced from Gateway Coordinator to Department Manager. His next move to another transport, logistics, supply chain and storage specialist saw Allen assume sole responsibility for managing the Heathrow export operation and the company's cross dock import / export warehouse facility. Two subsequent senior positions (Regional General Manager and Head of Air & Ocean UK) at competitor logistics service organisations cemented Allen's credibility as the ideal candidate for the new role at PML Seafrigo.

Having already had direct experience of working with PML, Allen was attracted to the opportunity of joining PML Seafrigo, a business which combines PML's widely acknowledged status as the UK experts in the transfer of perishable goods with Seafrigo's extensive global presence and logistics expertise spanning five continents.

The role of Air Freight Director sees Allen based at Heathrow, with responsibility for 22 staff. Commenting on the new position, he says, "I'm delighted to be joining PML Seafrigo at not only such a pivotal point in the company's growth plans but also at a time when we are witnessing an upward trend in the use of air freight services, especially for perishable goods where speed and efficiency of transport are so vital to maximise the shelf life of temperature sensitive goods. There are some exciting initiatives in the pipeline for our air freight operations, including the opening of a route to the Middle East, undertaking more complimentary business with our Australia air freight division, and a return to chartering our own aircraft is also potentially on the cards. PML Seafrigo offers customers a unique proposition, a seamless door-to-door logistics offering covering all aspects of the logistics journey incorporating transfer to the UK, specialist storage, packing, labelling and the last mile, all covered in-house to avoid reliance on any third parties, providing added reassurance that the cold chain has remained intact. I'm proud to be part of this progressive business and am keen to uphold the exemplary air freight service for which it is renowned."
