Looking back at summit on US-Mexico and Canada trade relations

The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas has just concluded a successful Spring Policy Summit. This gathering brought together over 100 key players to delve into the complexities of U.S., Mexico, and Canadian trade and agricultural practices. In a period marked by political transitions, the upcoming renegotiation of the USMCA, and the uncertainty surrounding the tomato suspension agreement, this summit helped shine a light on the complex nature of commerce and policy between nations.

A special thank you to Andrew I. Rudman, the keynote speaker, whose insights into the current and future state of U.S.-Mexico trade relationships emphasized the significance of the partnership. His expertise set the stage for a day rich in discussions and discoveries. The lineup of sessions covered topics ranging from port disruptions and food safety innovations to the latest policy developments from DC and frontline efforts in plant protection and quarantine.

The FPAA is grateful to its speakers, including representatives from CBP, Arizona's Department of Transportation, U.S. Customs House Brokers, elected officials, and industry experts, for sharing their perspectives. The spotlight on tomatoes and trade sparked discussions on agricultural imports and agreements vital to both countries.

FPAA's sincere appreciation goes to its sponsors, whose generosity and support made this gathering possible and helped advance the dialogue around trade and agriculture policies.
