Rise n' Shine Biotech Private Limited, have developed Blue Java – an exotic variant of Tissue cultured banana plants which has a distinct taste and colour. Being made available for the first time in India on a commercial basis, the first harvest of this variant was done on 2nd April 2024 on the farm of Abhijeet Patil. Dr. Bhagyashree P. Patil, Founder & CMD, Rise n' Shine Biotech Private Limited and the farm Operation Manager of Rise n' Shine Amey Patil, Technical Manager Anil Kadam and the Banana Marketing team who were providing the technical guidance, were present at the first harvest on the farm.
The occasion was organized to celebrate the initial fruiting and harvest of this variant of the fruit, sourced from Rise n' Shine Biotech Private Limited and cultivated on a two-acre plot by Abhijit Patil, an engineer and farmer residing in Karmala Taluka, Solapur District. He is renowned for his cultivation of unique fruits such as Red Banana, Dragon Fruit, and Apples in the past. Alongside him, numerous other farmers have successfully grown this banana variety, reaping big yields. The Pune-based company provided comprehensive guidance to these farmers, assisting them at every stage from planting to harvest, ensuring optimal results.
Blue Java bananas are packed with high nutritional value and provide multiple health benefits like muscle regeneration, moderate blood sugar level, promote weight loss, reduce insomnia, aid digestion, prevent cancer and support heart health. The origin of this banana variant can be traced to South-East Asia and is also known as vanilla banana due to a taste similar to vanilla ice cream.
