Kyrgyzstan imported more apples than it exported in 2023

Kyrgyzstan imported more apples than it exported in 2023, according to data from the National Statistical Committee.

The country imported 6,800 tons of apples while exporting 6,300 tons. Thus, imports exceeded exports by 8.6%.

The majority of imported apples came from Poland (1,806 tons), Uzbekistan (1,725 tons), China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Iran. Prices for imported apples were nearly three times higher than the export price of Kyrgyzstan's apples ($562 per ton of imported apples compared to $205 per ton of domestically produced apples).

Apples were mainly exported to Kazakhstan (3,246 tons), Russia (1,937 tons), and Uzbekistan (1,089 tons).

In 2022, the opposite situation was observed, with apple exports exceeding imports by a factor of 2, reaching a level of 12,800 tons.
