In the latest report by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), India's fresh fruit exports have showcased a remarkable 29% growth for the nine-month span from April to December 2023. The country's fresh fruits are now reaching 111 countries, up from 102 in the previous year, positioning them as leaders in the $100 million plus export category. Specifically, bananas saw a 63% increase, while kesar and dasheri mango exports jumped by 120% and 140%, respectively.
Processed vegetables and miscellaneous items experienced a 24% growth, with fresh vegetables also seeing significant gains. Out of 23 Principal Commodities in APEDA's portfolio, 18 showed positive growth, especially the 13 out of 15 large Principal Commodities, which recorded an average growth rate of 12%. This performance underlines the global demand for India's agricultural products, contributing 51% to the country's agri-exports, which totaled USD 53.1 billion in the fiscal year 2022-23.
