Saudi Arabia lifts restrictions on Egyptian strawberry imports

On Tuesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture announced that Saudi Arabia has removed restrictions on importing strawberries from Egypt. The Kingdom has resumed the issuance of import permits for Egyptian strawberries, effective February 1.

The ministry clarified in a statement that there was never an outright ban on Egyptian strawberries. The prior decision was an internal regulatory measure within the Kingdom, applicable to most agricultural imports from all global countries. The ministry further emphasized that this decision was not a rejection or ban of strawberry shipments due to quarantine or health reasons but a regulation of the internal market in the Kingdom based on supply and demand data.
