Vietnam exporters advised to focus on major markets

To achieve the targeted 6% increase in exports this year, exporters are advised to prioritize major markets such as the US, the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) aims for export revenue of $337 billion USD this year, with a trade surplus of approximately $15 billion USD.

Experts emphasize that key markets determining Vietnam's export growth include the US, China, the EU, and ASEAN countries.

Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the MoIT’s European-American Market Department, highlights the continued significance of Europe and America as vital markets for Vietnamese products, particularly electronics, footwear, garments and textiles, wooden products, and agricultural produce.

China, another crucial export market for Vietnam, spent $3.4 billion USD on importing Vietnamese fruits and vegetables last year. Moreover, China plans to expand its imports to include Vietnam’s frozen fruits and vegetables, as well as fresh coconuts in the near future.

Several organizations forecast a potential slowdown in the global and European economies this year compared to 2023. Additionally, the European market has raised its import standards. Hence, experts stress the importance for Vietnamese exporters to continually enhance the quality of their products to sustain their market shares.
