In 2023, citrus imports in the Primorsky Krai have surged by 1.5 times, reaching 32,200 tons from nine different countries, as reported by the Primorsky Interregional Department Rosselkhoznadzor. This marks a substantial increase compared to the last year when 21,900 tons of citrus fruits were imported to the region.
Over the past week alone, the Primorsky Krai has seen the import of 2500 tons of various citrus fruits, a significant rise from the previous week's 1100 tons. Since the beginning of the year, the region has received just over 18,000 tons of mandarins, in contrast to 11,700 tons during the same period in 2022.
Rosselkhoznadzor has also overseen the import of 5,100 tons of oranges, nearly the same quantity of tangerines 3,400 tons of lemons, 300 tons of grapefruits, and 400 tons of other citrus fruits. The majority of these imports, totalling 23,900 tons, originated from China, which dominates the supply of mandarins, tangerines, lemons, and grapefruits. Other citrus-exporting countries include Egypt, Pakistan, South Korea, South Africa, Argentina, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Eswatini.
All quarantined products have been approved for import by inspectors from the Primorsky Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor following quarantine phytosanitary control.
