Tunisia: HBG Holding invests in fruit exporter La Cinquième Saison

HBG Holding operating in agriculture, real estate, distribution and catering, and managed by the Hédi Bouchamaoui family, has acquired a stake in the capital of the fruit and vegetable exporting company La Cinquième Saison. The latter is a subsidiary of the Spanish group SanLucar, which specializes in the production and distribution of fruit and vegetables.

The amount invested and the shares acquired were not disclosed. Through this operation, HBG Holding is strengthening its footprint in the Tunisian agricultural sector. This family group managed a subsidiary, Al Hidaya Agricole, whose main activity is the cultivation and distribution of fruit and vegetables in Tunisia.

According to the Tunisian Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Investments (APIA), private investments approved in the agricultural sector for the first two months of 2019 (January and February) reached TND9.6 million. With the reforms launched in early 2019 in this sector, APIA expects greater financing.
