participating stores see 273% mango volume increase

US (FL): NMB announces Mango Mania Display contest winners

Winners of the National Mango Board's (NMB) third Mango Mania Display Contest for Small Retailers with up to 50 stores have been announced and will be awarded for their creativity in building their best, most beautiful mango display in this year's competition. The NMB's display contest resulted in a 273% mango volume increase amongst participating stores compared to the same time last year.

Now in its third year, this annual contest is designed to engage and reward smaller retailers by encouraging them to build big, beautiful mango displays. Participating stores were asked to create their most effective mango displays and keep them up for at least seven days during the month of July 2013. Retailers who requested contest kits received a packet of point of sale materials for each store, which included cutting, selection and nutrition messages, plus easy recipe ideas for mangos.

Stores were also encouraged to use their creativity to dress up displays with their own messaging and fun props. The judges were impressed by the participants' artistry and effort in this year's competition. Entries from 25 produce department managers located all across the country will be awarded prizes from $200 to $1000 based on their outstanding mango displays. Entries were judged based on creativity of the display, visual appeal and effectiveness in educating shoppers about mangos.

"It was tough to decide the winners, but we're thrilled to see more participation from smaller retailers showcasing their creativity and involvement," said Megan McKenna, NMB's Director of Marketing. "This contest is a great way to help pump up mango sales and increase mango movement, and we're excited that this year's result of 273% mango volume increase more than doubled last year's results," said McKenna.
