Bosch Growers, tracing its roots back to Leonardus van den Bosch's establishment in 1854, has undergone a transformative journey through six generations of the Bosch family The recent acquisition of a 30-acre greenhouse in Somerset, Kentucky for strawberry production, coupled with the strategic goals, underscores our dedication to streamlining the production process for efficiency and sustainable growth.
As the General Manager at Bosch Berries, your role will encompass the comprehensive management of daily operations at the facility. Positioned at the forefront, you will play a key role in reshaping the future of agriculture by fostering a positive health and safety culture in the workplace. Your responsibilities will be crucial in ensuring a thriving and secure environment for the team and contributing to the company's commitment to excellence in agriculture.
● Daily Operations Oversight:
● Supervise daily activities, including production, quality control, planning, plant performance reporting, labor management, facility maintenance, and balancing inputs, throughput, and demand.
● Prepare budgets and monitor financial performance against established targets.
● Key Performance Indicator Reporting:
● Generate key performance indicator reports for Bosch Berries management, covering aspects such as food safety, quality, and yield.
● Safety and Compliance:
● Support safety programs to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with food safety regulations.
● Uphold a culture that prioritizes Safety, Quality, and Compliance among Greenhouse team members.
● Communication and Collaboration:
● Conduct regular meetings with leadership to provide progress reports, engage in planning, and address conflicts.
● Collaborate with Head Growers on-site to develop growing schedules and forecast yield targets.
● Coordinate operational planning with the Grower and Packhouse.
● Financial Management:
● Hold full P&L responsibility for Operations, managing financial aspects of the facility.
● Greenhouse Project Management:
● Manage greenhouse project activities throughout their lifecycle, ensuring the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budgeting, and other factors necessary for success.
● Cultural Development:
● Establish and sustain a culture among the Greenhouse team that upholds standards of Safety, Quality, and Compliance.
● Technical Proficiency:
● Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools for effective communication and documentation.
To excel in the role of General Manager at Bosch Berries, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
● Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in business, Horticulture, Agriculture, or equivalent experience.
● Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management.
● 5 to 10 years of general management experience with a labor force greater than 100 workers.
· Industry Knowledge:
● Exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Lean Six Sigma, and Lean Principles is desired.
● Experience in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and/or greenhouse management is ideal.

· Adaptability and Innovation:
● Organized and flexible with a collaborative and innovative spirit, capable of adapting to change.
· Communication Skills:
● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all organizational levels.

· Environmental Conditions:
● Work typically takes place in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures ranging from 34°F to 110+°F.
● Background noise levels may approach 80 decibels.
· Manual Dexterity:
● Manual dexterity is essential for performing computer skills and operating equipment.
· Sensory Requirements:
● Regular use of visual and audio senses is necessary.
· Physical Exertion:
● Ability to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly, including lifting and moving products and equipment.
● Activities may involve bending, stretching, twisting, crouching, grasping, reaching, and lifting above shoulders.
· Posture and Movement:
● Standing, sitting, and walking for prolonged periods may be required.
● Flexibility in Schedule:
● Ability to work different shifts, including nights and weekends, as business dictates.
● Backup Responsibilities:
● In the absence or inability of the person in this role to complete their duties, tasks will be carried out by the next level above this job description.
