Peruvian farmer claims world's oldest man record at 124 years

Marcelino Abad Tolentino from Huanuco, Peru, claims to be the world's oldest man at 124 years, potentially surpassing the previous record holder by 13 years. Living off the grid until 2019, Tolentino was recently recognized by the government with ID and a pension.

He attributes his longevity to a healthy diet rich in fruits and lamb, as well as chewing coca leaves, a common Andean practice. Known locally as 'Mashico,' he celebrated his 124th birthday in a care home, reflecting a life marked by resilience and a harmonious relationship with nature.
