Growers United opens new pepper packing station in Zwaagdijk

On Friday, March 22, the new packing station of Growers United in Zwaagdijk was officially opened. The day after, its doors were opened to the public. Everyone was welcome to take a look at the packing station, where the block bell peppers from PapriCo have been sorted and packaged since this week.

The festivities began on Friday afternoon. Invitees were given a tour of the office building and the packaging hall. This was followed by a gathering in the hall for the official opening ceremony. With speeches from Mark Borst (operations manager) and Kees de Kat (CEO of Growers United), the official opening ceremony was carried out: the cutting of a ribbon by the former growers/shareholders Quun van Dijk, Theo Jansen, and Stephan Persoon. This was followed by a toast to a successful collaboration.

Ready for the future
The building covers a total of 10,000 m² of production space and 840 m² of office space. It is fully equipped with solar panels for its own power generation. "The production process is optimally automated and is located in the middle of the growers' production area, focusing on short logistic chains," says Mark Borst. "Together with our growers, we are ready for the growth of the future."

400 visitors
The 'tour day' on Saturday, March 23, 2024, attracted a lot of attention. "The first people were already waiting before opening time. We received many enthusiastic reactions and questions about the state-of-the-art sorting and packaging machines in the hall. About 400 people visited the open day on Saturday. We look back on two very successful days."
