Frutas de Chile turns 89

Last week, Frutas de Chile, formerly known as the Chilean Exporters Association (ASOEX), commemorated its 89th anniversary since its founding on April 17, 1935. The organization, which brings together leading companies in the sector, was initially chaired by Antonio Gianoli and focused on exports in general to ensure the interests of export trade and promote ethical and legal principles in its activities.

Under the aegis of ASOEX, the Fruit and Vegetable Committee was created in 1953. It was led by Lino Arostegui and it marked the beginning of a specific focus on the fruit sector. This committee would be the precursor of Chile's Association of Fruit Exporters, AG, established in 2011 with the aim of promoting the development and growth of the national fruit industry and its exports.

Over the years, the association has been led by several presidents. Ivan Marambio CastaƱo is the current president. Under his administration, ASOEX adopted the name Frutas de Chile, unifying the industry's efforts under a single brand to face the sector's national and international challenges.

Ivan Marambio highlighted the historical importance of the organization in the development of the fruit industry in Chile and thanked workers, partners, authorities, consumers, suppliers, and associates for their continuous support. He also reiterated the association's commitment to continue working so that the sector can successfully face its new challenges.
