US: Chiquita joins with Little League for fun filled Summer

To kick-off a multi-year partnership, Chiquita Brands and Little League Baseball are bringing Chiquita FanFun to consumers this summer. Chiquita has "the bases loaded" with in-store, online and mobile ways for customers to interact and win prizes, including a grand slam Chiquita FanFun Favorite Team Package that provides a four day, three night trip for a family of four to see their favorite professional baseball team in spring training.

"Chiquita is excited to partner with Little League and bring Chiquita FanFun to consumers this summer," said Fernando Aguirre, Chiquita chairman and chief executive officer. "I love baseball. I was also a Little Leaguer and played throughout college. Little League provides a great way for youth to get active and is connected with our mission to improve world nutrition."

As part of the program, Chiquita Bananas are now the "Official Fresh Snack of Little League Baseball and Softball." Chiquita will also have a presence at the Little League World Series Championship games which will be held in South Williamsport, Pa., this August.

"We're pleased to have Chiquita as a new national sponsor, providing us with another opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle," said Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball. "The Chiquita FanFun sweepstakes is sure to give our baseball and softball enthusiasts even more to look forward to this summer."

The Chiquita FanFun Sweepstakes began June 1 and ends August 31, 2012. At Chiquita Banana retail outlets across the United States, consumers will find secondary, collectable Little League stickers along with the iconic blue and yellow Chiquita blue oval logo. Online, at Chiquita's Facebook and the Chiquita FanFun landing page, consumers can find sweepstakes entry details and download Chiquita's first mobile app.

The Chiquita FanFun App, free to download, will be available in iTunes and Android/Google Play markets making it easy for customers to interact on the go, and app users will automatically be entered in the Chiquita FanFun sweepstakes. The feature-rich app will have fun Chiquita and Little League trivia, a store locator to find Chiquita Banana retailers, and much more. For the baseball and softball players in the family, consumers will be able to make their own trading card with the Little League Cardmaker.
