BelOrta makes positive result of 8.8 million Euro

BelOrta (Mechelse Veilingen + Coöbra + Veiling Borgloon) presented its results in 2013 during the general meeting on Thursday April 24 2014. BelOrta had good news with a positive result; 6% dividend for the shareholders and large facilities in terms of cooperative restitution.

In total BelOrta generated a positive result of 8.8 million EUR, of which most will flow back to the growers. With 1,600 active growers (130 from Holland) and 336 employees BelOrta a sales figures for fruit and vegetables of 372 million EUR. BelOrta has locations in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Borgloon, Fernelmont, Kamperhout, Visé and Zellik. Low commission, fast payout limites and maximum awarding of GMO support to the growers were key in 2013 and will remain a priority in the future. 

When the 2014 budget was present a responsibly investment plan was announced for the sites Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Borgloon and Zellik. The GMO support for the producer focussed offers will also be extended in 2014 to lower the growers costs even more. Ensuring the continued existence of the future focussed growers remains the mission of the producers organisation BelOrta.


 
During the general meeting president Leo Baestaen and managers Chris De Pooter, Filip Fontaine and Jos Craemers officially said goodbye to Mr Pierre Vrancken as the president of Borgloon Auction and director of BelOrta, as well as Mr Antoine Goffings and Mr Leo Kortleven, as they are now of retiring age. The three directors were awarded flowers by the Board of Directors and the management of BelOrta amongst warm applause from the members.
