The technical program of the second edition of Citrus Forum, which will feature more than 50 expert speakers, is currently being finalized. The Vice President of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development of the EP, Mazaly Aguilar, will be in charge of opening the congress, which will take place on May 28 and 29 at the Palacio de Congresos de Valencia (in-person) and on the 30th (100% online session).
The first block will be devoted to pests and diseases, addressing topics related to biological control, new sustainable strategies for disease control, and management and innovation in pest control.
In the second block, the focus will be on physiology and nutrition, addressing topics such as the importance of proper nutrition for the optimal development of citrus fruits, as well as innovative strategies to improve the efficiency of nutrient use in plants. Methods to prevent and manage physiological problems, as well as new perspectives on the use of growth regulators and other practices to maximize crop quality and yields will also be explored.
After the break, there will be another block on production, during which there will be talks on innovation and genetic research for the improvement and development of varieties, strategies to improve tree health and ensure their resilience to global challenges, advances in agronomic practices to improve efficiency and sustainability, and the role of microorganisms in modern citriculture.
The day will end with a roundtable on marketing featuring Paco Borrás (international agri-food consultant), José Antonio García (director of Ailimpo) and Phillippe Binard (Secretary General of WCO).
The session on May 29 will start with the second part of the block on pests and diseases, which will conclude with a roundtable on emerging pests. Next, there will be a block devoted to post-harvest and new technologies that will address crucial topics and offer valuable insights on how technological innovation is transforming the post-harvest of citrus fruits.
On the third day, May 30 (100% online), there will be talks by national and international expert speakers from the United States, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, and some other aspects will be addressed by experts from leading companies. This session will be freely accessible on the Agromunity.com platform.
Citrus Forum, the most important meeting of the citrus sector, is being held at a time of great uncertainty; one in which training and innovation must be prioritized in order to remain profitable. It will also be a networking opportunity for experts, technicians, producers and companies.
