Everything is ready for the Maap (Padova agri-food market) to participate in the Fruit Attraction of Madrid (23-25 October 2018) bringing to the fair some wholesalers who manage the structure.

The manager Francesco Cera says, “Our Market has always looked at the export. At this Spanish fair, we want to meet operators from all over the world in order to increase our export. Additionally, Spain represents an excellent production area from which importing fruit and vegetables – especially when the Italian production is lacking.
Even though the Maap processes and exports more than half of fruit and vegetables, the national Gdo still plays a crucial role. Sometimes, the local Gdo is important as well – like the Lando supermarket chain, for instance.

The agri-food buyer Michele Righetto explains, “We have 14 stores in the Padova province, but also in Venice, Treviso and Rovigo. Our surfaces are around 3.000-6.000 sqm each. Nowadays, it is not true that the consumers do not want to spend much: most of them wants to spend wisely. That is why every morning I go to Maap and select the best batches myself.

Michele Righetto
According to Righetto, the consumer wants fruit and vegetables that last a few days and have excellent organoleptic qualities. It is necessary to provide the consumer with services, “For instance, we pack and label bananas, in order to further facilitate the purchase for the consumer."
