Liquidators to sell Aussie Cherries Ltd (In Liquidation) Tasmanian orchards

A portfolio of cherry orchards and prime land parcels located in the internationally renowned Huon Valley region of Tasmania is set to hit the market amidst growing foreign interest in agricultural production in the Apple Isle.

Colliers International’s Jesse Manuel and Rawdon Briggs in conjunction with Landmark Harcourts Tasmania’s Michael Warren have been appointed to sell the assets of Aussie Cherries Ltd (In Liquidation) on behalf of Liquidators KordaMentha. The assets comprise a total landholding of approximately 78 hectares across multiple sites at Castle Forbes Bay and Lucaston with 42 hectares (approx.) established to cherry orchards of which 35 hectares (approx.) is under netting.

“The Aussie Cherries assets present an opportunity for potential purchasers to secure a group of high quality cherry orchards in one of the states most prized horticultural and tourism regions,” Mr Manuel said.

All properties comprise adequate pumping and irrigation infrastructure with water entitlements. A considerable investment has also been made in the installation of netting on the orchards for tree and fruit protection.

“The properties have been developed, managed and maintained to a high standard and the trees are in an excellent state of health, budding well in readiness for this year’s production,” Mr Warren said.

“The orchards have a proven ability to produce a high-quality product suitable for premium export markets and with its diverse varietal mix, the portfolio has the potential to access a range of markets over a long period.”

Mr Warren said the orchards are complimented by a large packing and cold storage complex. These provide washing, grading and packing capabilities, office and staff amenities and ten cool rooms for the storage of produce.

The properties are located less than a one hour’s drive south west of Hobart and its international airport in a region that is currently experiencing strong capital growth.

Mr Manuel said with its multiple titles, subdivision potential and aesthetic appeal of the location including views of the Huon River, the portfolio also presents an attractive real estate repositioning opportunity.

All properties are spread across 15 individual titles and can be acquired either in one line or separately.

The assets of Aussie Cherries Ltd (In Liquidation) are for sale by Expression of Interest, closing Thursday 4 October at 4pm (AEST).
