Cosmic Crisp to be handed out at Asia Fruit Logistica

Washington Apple Commission will give out samples of new apple variety

The Washington Apple Commission will be providing samples of the new Washington apple variety, Cosmic Crisp, at the Asia Fruit Logistica trade show in Hong Kong on Sept. 5th-7th.

Samples will be distributed at the Washington Apple Commission booth: Hall 3b, D17/11. Importers, retailers and wholesalers will be attending the international trade exhibition. Cosmic Crisp is the new WA-38 cultivar developed by Washington State University. The apple’s flavor profile is described by Rebecca Lyons, “It is a crisp, textured apple with good sugar, and a bit of zing from its acidity.” It is characterized as being bright red with striking lenticels, slow to brown when cut, and maintains flavor and texture during storage.

The Cosmic Crisp will be available to consumers in 2019.

It is the mission of the Washington Apple Commission to serve the Washington apple industry by increasing consumer demand through innovative marketing and promotions in international markets.
