"China: "Imported fruit supplements domestic fruit market in quiet times"

"China has imported increasing volumes of imported fruit in recent years. There are many reasons for the growth of fruit imports into China: first, the product quality of overseas fruit is higher because of the growing environment and the level of technology. Second, the fruit from some production areas enters the market right at the moment when the domestic fruit market is quiet. One example of this is the South African orange." This is according to Bill Han of Chen's Sun.

Chen's Sun team

"Chen's Sun is a Chinese import and export business that has been active in the fruit industry for more than 26 years. We trade in high-quality domestic fruit, and also import fruit from abroad. We currently trade in around 40 countries. We mostly cooperate with countries in South America, Australia, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The industrial standard in Southern America and Europe is relatively high, the growing environment great, and distribution is excellent. Apart from this, we mainly import oranges from South Africa because their harvest season coincides with a period when there are few Chinese oranges on the domestic market."

CEO of Chen's Sun

"In Southeast Asia we collaborate with local fruit farms, while in most other countries we cooperate with partners. The production includes durian, mangosteen, longan, and dragon fruit. Malaysia and China recently signed a protocol for the export of whole frozen durian. We think that the market will need some time to digest this recent protocol and the short-term influence of this protocol on the market for imported durian in China will be small."

Chen's Sun activities

"We will participate in Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong in September. You can find us in Hall 5d at stand O28. We hope to meet you there."
