China: Soft seed pomegranates enter market in bulk

Soft seed pomegranates ripen in early August. The Tunisian soft seed pomegranate is one of the softest pomegranates in the world. The main production areas in China are located in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Henan. The soft seed pomegranates from Sichuan enter the market the earliest in the beginning of August; most pomegranates from Yunnan enter the market in late August; and the pomegranates from Henan enter the market in September.

Huili in Sichuan can boast of 20 thousand hectares of pomegranate orchards and is widely known as the "hometown of pomegranates in China". Huili is located in the Daliang Mountain area where the natural environment is unpolluted. The soil and climate conditions are perfectly suited for the cultivation of Tunisian soft seed pomegranates. This is one of the largest production areas of Tunisian soft seed pomegranate in China.

Soft seed pomegranates

The first Tunisian soft seed pomegranates were cultivated in Henan and this is also where the first pomegranate orchards were established. Since the Henan pomegranates ripen late, supply from Henan production areas shapes the later stages of the pomegranate market. The Tunisian soft seed pomegranates from Heyin, Henan, ripen relatively late and enter the market as summer turns to autumn. It has become a top-quality gift for people who visit friends, and the price is relatively high.

Soft seed pomegranates

The soft seed pomegranate production areas in Yunnan are located at an elevation of more than 1500 meters. The high plateau climate creates conditions that elevate the sugar content of pomegranates grown there. The fruit is also larger. In addition, the production areas are relatively far south, which means that the fruit ripens early and enters the market early. This gives Yunnan a definite competitive edge in the pomegranate market.
