"Expansion fits in with our quest for permanent lines in the top fruit sector"

Vergro wants to take over D&G Fruit

The Belgian export company, Vergro, has signed a letter of intent. The company has a branch in the Belgian town of Sint-Truiden. They hope to acquire the nearby D&G Fruit. Vergo Directeur, Dominiek Noppe, confirms this. Vergro celebrates its 50th jubilee this year. Last year, they took over another Belgian company, DVL bvba, based in Sint-Katelijne-waver.

D&G Fruit specialises in growing, sorting, and selling cherries and top fruit. "We were looking for permanent lines in the top fruit sector. This fits the bill. D&G Fruit is also located close to our company. This makes perfect logistical sense", says Dominiek. He expects it to still take at least a month before the takeover is made official. "We are working hard to get everything done."

Vergro employs roughly 40 people. Their apples and pears are already arranged from Sint-Truiden. The remainder of their fruit and vegetables is mainly transported from their site in Meulebeke. Since last year, Vergro now has a location in Mechelen. This is thanks to the DVL takeover. Vergro exports to 26 European countries. Eighty percent of this is done under their house brand, €ureka Fresh. The United Kingdom, France, and Germany are their most important sales countries.
