Chile: A man exchanges 58 kg of avocados for a cell phone

Avocado prices are high, and since they cost close to 5 thousand pesos they are no longer a simple accompaniment at the table and have almost become a luxury product.

In the middle of CyberDay, users shared a curious offer through social networks. The Ripley multi-store was selling a cellphone for $199,990 pesos, or its equivalent price in avocados, which corresponded to 58 kilos of this fruit.

Many users wondered if this was a joke or if it was really possible to acquire the phone with 58 kilos of avocados.

Camilo Briceño (29), who has an Instagram account (@elweondelaspaltas) with more than 34 thousand followers and is dedicated to marketing avocados through the social network, decided to find out.

He announced through his social networks that he would accept the challenge and try to acquire the phone. Later, the multi-store responded to his comment, agreeing to meet at noon at the Parque Arauco store: "You bring the avocados and we'll give you a cell phone."

And that's just what happened. Briceño arrived with 58 kilos of avocados to the store and became the owner of the cell phone.
