Sharp increase of summer fruit imports to Ningbo between January and April

The Ningbo Waiyun International Freight Agency has reported the import of around 22.6 tons of fresh dragon fruit from Vietnam on May 21st. 

Tropical fruits such as dragon fruit, pineapples, mangoes, and durian from Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand all receive a warm welcome from Chinese consumers.

Data from the Ningbo Customs Office shows that Ningbo imported 2,198 tons of fruit between January and April this year, which is an increase of 130% in comparison with the same period last year. The import value reached 13.6 million yuan [2.12 million USD], which is an increase of 170% in comparison with the same period last year. Ningbo primarily imports fruit from ASEAN-countries. Fruit import from ASEAN-countries reached 2,185 tons, which is an increase of 150% in comparison with the same period last year, and also accounts for 99.4% of all fruit imported during this period. Fresh dragon fruit imports reached 1,837 tons, which is an increase of 8640% in comparison with the same period last year.
