Honduras: Fruit exports amounted to US $633 million dollars

Fruit exports, worth around 633 million dollars (15,065 millions of lempiras) per year, leave the country and contribute to a very positive trade balance in favor of Honduras.

Julio Morales, the coordinator of Agricultural Businesses of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), said that the country's fruit imports only amounted to nearly 50 million lempiras, and reiterated that the balance favored Honduras.

The only fruits the country imports are those it doesn't produce, such as apples, grapes, and pears, which the Honduran people now eat on a daily basis, but only used to eat at Christmas before, said the official.
