High pesticide residues found on one local and one imported product

The Ministry of Agriculture in Turkey has announced the results for the pesticide residue on local and imported products conducted between 13th-19th of April.

According to the results, out of the 40 samples of imported products, such as cherry tomatoes, apple, strawberry, watermelon, peach, carrot and pepper, only one product was found to be above the pesticide residue limits set by the EU.

49 samples from local products, such as artichoke, tomato, melon, zucchini, parsley, pepper, eggplant, cucumber, green beans, peach, carrot, radish, oranges and leeks were analyzed and only one product was found to be above the allowed pesticide residue limit

In imported products, cherry tomato imported by SVS ltd were destroyed, whereas local carrots, grown by Cemal Ulusan in Doganci, were destroyed as the chemicals used were not licensed.
