A shipment of 19.8 tons of tomatoes imported from Uzbekistan to Yekaterinburg, Russia was found to be contaminated upon inspection by specialists from the Rosselkhoznadzor. The cargo, discovered to be infected, was promptly returned to Uzbekistan.
According to the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor for the Sverdlovsk Region, the tomatoes arrived in the Sverdlovsk Region via road transport on March 26th.
During the inspection, specialists detected symptoms of the brown wrinkling disease on the tomato fruits, classifying them as a quarantine risk. Consequently, the sale of such tomatoes was prohibited, leading to their immediate repatriation to Uzbekistan.
