Infected Moroccan tomatoes not allowed in Saint Petersburg

A batch of 30 tons of tomatoes was intercepted at the phytosanitary control post in the port of Saint Petersburg (Russia), after specialists of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance found harmful insects.

The owner of the cargo was prohibited to import the contaminated batch of the quarantinable produce. They have a choice between destroying or disinfecting the tomatoes. In case of the owner’s objection to doing either or inability to do so, the cargo will be sent back to Morocco at the owner’s cost.
