On Wednesday March 21 the new season was opened with festivities at Cooperatie Hoogstraten cv. The ideal opportunity to highlight the complete product assortment and focus on new items for the coming season. Besides strawberries, Cooperatie Hoogstraten cv mostly deals in tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Last year the cooperation realised a product turnover of 236 million Euro and a business figure of 290 million Euro, another light increase compared to 2016.

After the press conference, a box of strawberries was auctioned for charity according to annual tradition. This box went to Spar - Colruyt for the price of € 500 per 500g. Thanks to Cooperation Hoogstraten cv, in the name of the growers, the yield was doubled. The amount of € 8,000 was given to Sofie Dumont, ambassador for cancer charity, Stichting tegen Kanker. The Stichting tegen Kanker motto is: work together for life, because there's hope when it comes to cancer. Stichting tegen Kanker supports the science and constantly make progress in finding and prevention. They also support patients and their families.
