China: Serious drop in Lintong pomegranate production

As Lintong pomegranates enter the market, this year's price is much higher than in previous years. The drought in July and August and the rain during the ripening season have led to a drop in the Lintong pomegranate production. In 2015, there was a large harvest, and distribution prices were around 3 yuan. In 2016, the price ranged between 3 and 3.5 yuan, but this year, the price is over 4 yuan. That is why the sales price is now over 5 yuan.

However, Lintong pomegranates are still selling well. Even though there was a decrease in production, this has not affected the product quality. Some pomegranates are not as red as in previous years, but they are sweeter now, and still taste good. Because of the development of the internet, large quantities of fruit are now sold online as well.
