Combined processes with combi-protec generally approved

Innovative combat against Cherry-Vinegar-Fly

Combi-protec, a new product for fruit and wine producers to reduce their use of pesticides by up to 97%, has been approved. Residues after usage are only 1-10% of the allowed maximum. One liter combi-protec is combined with approximately 3% of the regular insecticide quantities and spread with around 20 liters of water per hectare of production area as a bait. The combination works as well as 20 liters of traditional insecticide spray cocktail. Complete coverage of all plants and fruits is with a small amount of water like this impossible but also not needed!

How does combi-protec work?

The cherry vinegar fly, just like any other vingear or fruit flies, see the scattered sprayed droplets as a food source. The composition of combi-protec accelerates the intake and enhances the effect of the combined insecticides. The flies will die within a short period of time, a lot quicker than they do with traditional methods. This explains why, for example, 5ml Spintor per hectare are perfectly sufficient.

The effectiveness was proven in a number of tests, among others at the Research Institute for Fruit- and Viticulture in Weinsberg (LVWO). The combined process shows the same successes as traditional recomendations of spray-on pesticides by Spintor and Karate Zeon. The method has been actively used (with ยง22 authorizations), mostly in the area of Baden-Wuertemberg since 2013.

The product is usually applied with two to four injection nozzles per device, with low pressure and low speed. For viticulture, the pesticide is applied on only one side of the grape zone, only every other driving lane has to be treated. Quads and ATV's with mounted sprayers have been most effective. Work time has been reduced by 50% as well.

Recently combi-protec has been approved for working with pesticides that are deemed dangerous to bees as well. The recommneded mixture consists of Spintor and combi-protec and was tested for soft fruit such as elder and in viticulture against the cherry vinegar fly and the common earwig. Therefore, combi-protec meets all the requirements of a regular additive, which will be applicable with all suitable insecticides, in other indicators and cultures as well.

Fruit and wine cultivation now has the option of an efficient and cheap method with little to no residues as a further aspect in the combat against cherry vinegar flies.
