Fujian Inspection and Quarantine Bureau found Pinnaspis Aspidistrae for the first time

Recently at the Quanzhou International Airport, inspectors from the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau at Quanzhou City of Fujian Province found Pinnaspis Aspidistrae among the half kilo of oranges from a passenger flying from Hong Kong.

After the insects were confirmed by the lab of the bureau, the sample was sent to the lab of the Shanxi Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, a key lab specialized in scale insects. After further examination, the sample was confirmed to be Pinnaspis aspidistrae, a major scale insect from plants. This was the first time that the species was found by the Bureau in Fujian Province.
