Website connects Romanian producers and buyers

Entering export markets continues to be a challenge for Romanian growers so in response, a website called Bursa de Legume (www.bursadelegume.ro) was launched.

"We are trying to help the Romanian farmers to sell their vegetables and to establish safe and long lasting collaborations with buyers. We consider that this is the main goal of the project." shared Marius Petrache, General Manager of Marcoser, the company who launched the project.

The website is an online platform designed for the Romanian vegetable producers.

"One of our project's goals is to provide daily vegetable prices from the major wholesale markets in Romania. Our website currently posts the most up to date prices for Matca (Galati), Bucharest and Brasov, and we plan on adding at least 3 additional markets in the near future. Matca, being the largest greenhouse growing area in the country, is the market which sets Romania's vegetables prices," said Petrache.

"We also have a section for advertisements so growers can publish their own offer of vegetables, giving them the opportunity to connect with buyers. Buyers are also able to publish what they require." Petrache continued.

In the last section, users can also find news from domestic and foreign markets, including articles about decisions and subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture, keeping growers up to date about any changes in the sector.

"Along with the website, our company has been organising annual seminars held in the main vegetable growing regions. The seminars are held from December through to the beginning of February and last year we were able to gather more than 2000 farmers."
