Elena Rogojnikova, Hagé International:

"Enough avocados from Kenya and Peru but not from South Africa"

The South African, Kenyan and Peruvian avocado season is in full swing. "Hass avocados are still quite expensive for this time of year. Kenya and Peru have adequate volumes, but South Africa is lagging a bit behind this year. This has resulted in a longer ripening time", explains Elena Rogojnikova of Hage International.

"The Greenskins market is reasonably stable this year. Prices are good, the supply and demand ratio is stable and we cannot complain about the quality. South African Greenskins are smaller this year with hardly any size 10/12 available", says Elena.

"The South African Pinkerton season is over, even though there are still a few last Pinkertons available on the market. These will be followed up by Ryans, which will be available in adequate volumes from week 24. Zutanos from Peru are available mainly in size 10 and 12 and are of excellent quality, despite the flooding there in March. An increase in demand for avocados is expected in the coming months."
