Alba Lemon Bio collects produce from 20 associates and many other growers.
"We hold all the certifications to provide final consumers with fruit that is organic and natural. I'm sorry to say many lemons are nowadays treated and therefore not as genuine as they should be. We have the BioAgriCert, GlobalGap and Limone di Siracusa Igp certifications."
The company grows citrus fruit on over 250 hectares and "meets the expectations of our most demanding consumers, among which are the Eurospin, Pizzi Osvaldo, Veritas Bio Frutta and Stokrotka supermarkets."
Alba Lemon Bio Soc.Coop. Agr. produces and commercialises around 800 tons of citrus fruit every year.
The produce is distributed not only to Italian retailers (320 tons) but also to foreign ones, mainly in Poland (240 tons) and Germany (80 tons). The rest goes to France, Austria and Slovenia.
Lemon blossoming can be divided as follows:
- April-May: it originates the so-called primofiore and limone d'inverno. Ripening is between October and May;
- May-June: it originates the so-called bianchetti, which ripen between May and June;
- July-August: it originates the so-called verdelli, which ripen in summer;
- Autumn: it originates the so-called bastardi, which ripen the following year.
