Now is the time of the year when fresh garlic enters the market in large volumes. Compared to the high prices last year, this year the prices of new garlic have been dropping. Some sellers were forced to lower the prices further because of the big stock. According to the statistics in the market in Northern China, a unit of 20 garlics which had been sold at 8 yuan earlier could easily drop to only 4 yuan a few days later, sometimes even 50 cents lower. The sales are still slow despite the low price. In the meantime, the prices of fresh garlic shoots have been affected because more garlics have been cultivated. Now that the sales of garlic is slow, so is the sales of garlic shoots.
