Italian citrus granted permission to be exported to China

Policy departments of the ministry for agriculture, food and forestry, have announced that the Chinese market debate on whether the Chinese market should or should not be open for Italian fruit has finally come to an end. The first batch of goods will be exported next season.

The contract that the Italian side signed with Han Changfu from the Chinese ministry of agriculture still makes allowances for a memorandum. The Italians were represented by the Italian ambassador Ettore Sequi.

The head of the policy departments of the ministry for agriculture, food and forestry, Maurizio Martina, comments: "This is a first important achievement for our citrus industry. Now our products can enter the Chinese market, which has great potential. I'm very satisfied with all the diplomatic work that has happened."

"The agreement has strengthened the cooperation between the agricultural deparments of both countries, and reinforces the relationship between the two countries. The new "Silk Road" will also benefit the development of the trade of goods and agricultural products on the levels of technology and products. We will continue to invest in order to support the Italian companies that want to grow in the Chinese market. In the first two months of 2017, exports to China were already 12% higher than last year.

The main goals of the agreement are the following:

- Advancing the cooperation between both countries on the levels of economy, trade and technology in the agricultural industry and rural villages.

- Enhancing the relationship in the agricultural industry between both countries.
