Heembouw reserves 12ha in Nieuw Reijerwaard

Heembouw wants to realise a large distribution centre in Nieuw Reijerwaard. Volbregt Smit, president of the Gemeenschappelijke Regeling Nieuw Reijerwaard (GRNR) and commercial director Rinus Verhey of Heembouw, have signed an agreement concerning the 12 hectares of landed needed to do so. The agreement concerns the reservation of a plot of 12 hectares on the Laurierweg. The desired distribution centre consists of two halls, each 30,000 square metres. The agreement was signed in Berlin during the Fruit Logistica 2017.

Heembouw is specialised in the design and realisation of company spaces for hire and sale. The distribution centre at Nieuw Reijerswaard is intended for hire or sale to companies from the agri/fresh/food/logistics sector.

President Volregt Smit of the GRNR: "The arrival of Heembouw shows that they, like us, believe in the accessibility of Nieuw Reijerwaard and the clustering of companies in agri/fresh/food/logistics. This distribution centre widens the supply of Nieuw Reijerwaard hugely and makes it even more attractive for companies to settle here."

Commercial director Rinus Verhey of Heembouw is positive about the collaboration. "Nieuw Reijerwaard lends itself excellently for the settling of agri and food related parties. We are now talking to a number of interested candidates."

Nieuw Reijerwaard
Nieuw Reijerwaard is a 96 ha extension to the existing agri fresh food cluster in Barendrecht and Ridderkerk: BTO and Verenambacht. Collectively they form Foodcenter Reijerwaard: the largest specialised agri/fresh/food cluster in the Netherlands. Foodcenter Reijerwaard is in the centre of the Netherland, close to the Rotterdam port and well positioned near the A15, A16 and A29. There is a high concentration of food related companies here, such as The Greenery, Bakker Barendrecht and Van Gelder. Due to this favourable location Nieuw Reijerwaard is very suited for regrouping the important overseas (longsea) and European (shortsea) import and export of fresh fruit and vegetables and related activities.

The Gemeenschappelijk Regeling Nieuw Reijerwaard (GRNR) is a collaboration between the municipalities of Ridderkerk, Barendrecht and Rotterdam with, as their goal, developing Nieuw Reijerwaard into a sustainable and innovative industrial estate in the agri, fresh and food sector.
