Corsica oranges - a unique and protected quality

Although David Casoni, manager of Corsica Comptoir, has only been supplying this type of orange for a year, he is already certain that it has been a good choice. It is a decision that has led them to work only with this variety, leaving aside the Washington Navel and Salustiana, which are "not as commercially appealing," affirms Casoni.

The excellent climate of the island means the fruit has special characteristics that differentiate it from the rest. "The oranges have the same characteristics as our PGI clementines, which have a slightly sour and very sweet taste at the same time," states Casoni. Another outstanding feature is that it is harvested by hand, as part of the firm's commitment to a sustainable and environmentally-friendly agriculture.

Currently, Casoni sells to large retailers in France, as "they are very good quality oranges known across the country," and in the near future they want to expand to countries like Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. "We have a lot of tourists in summer coming from those countries and I think people would like to eat a fruit from their favourite summer destination."
